I just finished listening to The Martian again. Excellent audiobook, I highly recommend it.

I am rereading the Outlander series, because hurry up with the next book already, Diana Gabaldon...

I don't know what I'm going to read next. I might read the James Comey book.

I'm reading a paranormal romance book that I'm too embarrassed to talk about.

I'm almost finished with Jane Austen: The Secret Radical by Helena Kelly. It's a really interesting look at Jane Austen's novels, with the idea that Jane was far more engaged with the political climate and events of the day than she's often given credit for, and that there's a lot more going on in the novels than just pretty young women going to balls and navigating romantic dilemmas. Occasionally, I think she makes a bit of a stretch with her arguments, but overall it's very well-argued and persuasive. Even when I don't agree with her, it's definitely a really interesting perspective on the novels and it's made me think about them in a very different way.

I've also just started Killers of the Flower Moon, which is about a series of murders that took place on the Osage Indian reservation in Oklahoma in the 1920s. I'm not that far into it, but so far it's really interesting, and it's something that I didn't know anything about previously, so I'm learning a lot.

I just recently finished The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. A boy is raised in an old graveyard by the ghosts of its inhabitants, but eventually has to leave the safety of the cemetery to face the man who killed his family. A really engrossing story and beautifully written, but have some kleenex ready!

I so want to know what it is now.

I'm going through a YA dystopias phase (this usually happens a few times a year) and am loving Marie Lu's Legend and just finished Neal Shusterman's Scythe.  Also read the Selection series by Kiera Cass which was not good, but oddly addictive.  Cheesy teen sci-fi is my crack.

Finishing up The Road to Little Dribbling by Bill Bryson.  Hell's Princess (about Belle Gunness) is next on my list.

Don't be ashamed about what you are reading. If you enjoy it, then it's all good.

Yes, me too! In order to make you feel less embarrassed, I just finished "The Consumption of Magic" - the third "Tales from Verania" book by TJ. Klune, featuring a king's wizard (coughapprenticecough), his boyfriend, Knight Deliciousface, a hornless gay unicorn, the unicorn's on-again-of-again husband - a sexually frustrated dragon named Kevin, and og course Tiggy - a half-giant who'll smash anything and anyone who threatens the previous four.

If none of that scared you off, go check out the free sample of "The Lightning-Struck Heart" from Amazon. It. Is. Hilarious!

I always have several books going at once. I'm reading In the Vaults Beneath- Archaeological Recording at St George's Church, Bloomsbury

Totem and Taboo by Freud

The World of Yesterday by Stefan Zweig. I'm finding this particularly moving. On the surface it reads as nostalgia, but, it's really an elegy. The civility and culture of the age was becoming increasingly tenuous and frail as it could no longer fight the recurring infection of antisemitism. And of course, all was to be lost. All was lost.

He was a fascinating person.

The Lucky Galah (only just started but the narrator is the galah of the title, a bird with attitude). Debut novel for an Australian author and she's done good.

Rereading Kinsey Milhone mysteries, starting with A is for Alibi.

But if there's a new book in the Vorkosigan saga (as I read on one of the forums), will probably buy that and read it in one gulp.

Have a whole shelf of other unread books looking at me. Just not in the mood - one day.

I really liked the Alphabet series. I have not finished it yet. I saw the reader changed for the audiobooks, I wonder why that happened. I tend to get attached to one reader.

I'm finding these days I'm into "book candy" more than literature. I've been tearing up the trashy romance stuff I can get on my kindle.

As far as literature goes, I'm almost finished with Kate Mulgrew's "Born With Teeth." She played Janeway on Voyager, and it's her biography. I also love Craig Ferguson's books.

My supervisor and I were talking about books yesterday and he mentioned that his brother is reading one called Sapiens, about humans, and apparently it is fascinating. That is on my list next.
