The most amusing thing about that letter Amara, as someone who grew up growing our own veg/with house cows etc, is that he expects to be able to grow all the food he needs without tilling the land!  That's impossible, unless he means doing it by hand without using machinery!!  We spent hours every time, digging the soil/mixing in fertiliser (cow or chicken muck) in order to prep the land for veg!

I think most people don't realize just how hard farming really is and that living off the land isn't the easy life style movies make it seem.

Yeah, you almost want to give people what they ask for just to see what happens. If they work it out, fine. If they don't... wait 3 months and see what they are asking to be financed next!

I'm familiar with a gal who starts a Go Fund Me campaign every time she gets a whim.   So far she's asked for a car, land, money to buy land, a vacation, car repairs, money to pay for an adoption, money to start a business, money for IVF.   It never stops.  Thankfully she's never received a dime.

She may not have gotten a dime, but you’d think by now she would have at least gotten a clue.

Nope, not even an inkling of a clue.  Every single time she posts a campaign and doesn't receive any responses, she complains about how unfair it is that other people get money and she doesn't.

I have just discovered a Reddit section called Choosing Beggars. The theme is "beggars can't be choosers, but these beggars are not just choosing, they are demanding."

•You work at home so you can watch my kids for free.

•Pay me to come and remove my swimming pool. You can have the pool, but it needs repair.

•I need to travel to see my dying father. Your offer of a bus ticket is not acceptable because only poor people take the bus. I want airfare.

•Babysit my kids for 8 hours a day and I will rent my apartment to you for a reduced rate. So what it if works out to $US 2.50 an hour?

I need a free 100-mile bus trip for 20 people and don't you dare offer me any less. [Everay alternative suggestion was greeted with "It must be free. NEXT!" or "It must be for 20 people. NEXT!"

•Give up the extra-roomy airline seat you paid for because I want it.

•You have to redo the pic you drew me 6 months ago, because you're a better artist now.

•I want to change my life for the better. I need a car that is big, safe, and comfortable in Las Vegas heat. Oh, yeah, I don't yet have a license.   GoFundMe for a Tesla.

• "Dear cousin, I was sad to hear that you could not attend my wedding. I am holding a brunch for those who couldn't make it, I am looking forward to your bridal gift! The address is at so and so"

And, my favorite: I want a sugar daddy who doesn't want me to provide sugar.

Apparently a new scam, or more accurately a variation on one. This one was posted today on my community's local website:

They had a older lady screaming in the background saying it was my mom and if I didn't send money over she would have a bullet in her head. First of all, the lady sounded nothing like my mom. Second of all, they called the wrong hard-working yet broke girl. If you guys get a call from a Mexico # ending in 1090 DO NOT answer.

Good luck trying that one with me.  My mom passed away 8 years ago.

It's only a "gimme," Lynn. There are a lot of those on the CL here. People who want to live in vans or tiny homes on your land and maybe pay you a small fee for electricity and water. Or those who want to house sit (preferably in the particularly expensive sections) for bringing in your mail or similar. It's been very old for a long time now. The begging is out of control--and most of us here are just working hard and trying to make ends meet. I laughed a bit at this but the truth is this sort of stuff makes me furious. Gimme, gimme, gimme. I hate it. My parents taught me to pull up my own bootstraps but that seems to be a very outdated way of thinking.

Basically, they want to just kind of live wihtout having a job, or having to punch a clock, and oh, well, i can grow my own food, etc. and if someone is kind enough to give me the land to do this on, well, so much the better. Sorry, but this strikes me as someone who is just lazy and wants everything handed to them.

I really don't understand anyone who does anything like this. I just don't. I work, and have for most of my adult years. I pay my own rent, bills, buy my own toys, cars, pay for my own vacations. And guess what, if I can't pay for what I want, i don't get it or don't do it.

I read about one recently: Someone got a bit of ransomware on their phone that said that the FBI had caught them committing crimes online and they had to pay using Google Play or iTunes gift cards in order avoid being arrested and jailed.

The guy turned himself into police, who investigated his phone and found that the malware was downloaded along with some child **** he'd been viewing.

So, a scammer actually had a positive effect on society.

And now there's a new Go Fund Me campaign for car repairs along with a rant about greedy mother f**kers and f**king b**tards because no one will help.

So everyone else is greedy because they won't give her money? If I didn't know better, I'd say that was one of my sisters.

I can't believe that someone wants to keep the money they worked to earn.  I mean really.  How dare they!  :D :D :D
