I Accomplished Something Today! Or Plan to...
« on: November 16, 2018, 12:40:05 pm »
This was a thread on the ex-board that I liked.

There are days when getting out of bed and brushing my teeth feels like an accomplishment.  And there are days where I get 10 things crossed off my To Do list.  So let's record the small victories!

Today:
Got the driveway blown out - the plow pile will have to be done when we get home because it hadn't gone by before I left.  I'm hoping my husband gets home first...
Went to my Doctor's appointment
Got some of my report completed

Still to do today:
Make pastry

Tomorrow:
Make and bake pies for the church sale on Sunday.
Package up herbs for the church sale

Sunday:
Deliver the stuff before church
Go to church
Make something for dinner that will have some leftovers - meatloaf?

Tonight, after work: Make the cranberry sauce.

The frozen homemade chicken stock (for T-Day gravy) is already thawing in the refrigerator.

Washed a good amount of piled-up dishes (I had some issues with my drain for a while), hung up some clothes I washed yesterday, and went to the Christmas market at the city center. Tomorrow, I hope to finish the last remaining dishes and buy some Groceries.

The only thing on my list I didn't get done was making the meatloaf.  I forgot to take hamburger out of the freezer.  But I got all the laundry done and folded.

I do still have to use the hand blender to mash the pumpkin I cooked earlier and get it in the freezer for baking pies and loaf cakes later.

I put all of my clutter away!  My dining room table is clear, kitchen counters clean, pantry cupboard washed & sorted out, kitchen cabinets washed, living room totally decluttered and clean.

This makes getting ready for company on Thanksgiving so much easier.  I have been getting rid of stuff over the past year and just now have really started to see results.  Yesterday everything was in disarray, but it "only" took me 6 hours working at a leisurely pace.

I have been decluttering like a mad woman.  I've taken 3 loads to Goodwill.  I spent this weekend cleaning, including moving furniture and all the stuff you can't see in preparation for a house full for Thanksgiving.  I cleaned and organized all of the main areas of the house.  I still will need to do bathrooms and touch ups before the big day, but I got quite a bit done.

Pumpkin is done.  And we got wood in for my husband's parents.  They have a wood burning furnace and a wood stove for their main heat source.

I'm hoping to make a list of the weekends between now and Christmas so I can plan my baking and all the other things that need doing.

I don't have large amounts of holiday (autumn and Christmas) decorations but I do make a point of decorating my office as well as my home. Today, I started bringing home the office autumn decorations because I don't want to have to haul it all in one trip on Wednesday. I am taking Monday off so when I return on Tuesday I will put up the office Christmas decorations.

Today I plan to get on top of my work to do list instead of it getting on top of me. I *WILL* beat this wretched thing into submission...

Today after work I will pick up my winter jacket from the tailor (broken zipper), bake two mini pumpkin pies and freeze one, make the cranberry sauce, chop lots of onions and celery, and catch up on my Facebook stuff. I'm really cold and I'm glad the jacket is done. I've been layering but it's not enough in this weather. And I love it when my kitchen is warm and light and full of baking and cooking smells.

Today, my accomplishment will be getting home safely.  There are snow squalls and wind gusts over 60 km/hr, with some areas with gusts over 90 km/hr - which is roughly 55 mph.

I would love to finish the classes for the Summer 19 term I have to enter into our system at work. This is a drawn-out process that I usually sigh and get on with, finishing up in good time. Yesterday, however, and probably today, I am in holiday mode and it is becoming long and drawn-out. S l o w l y is what I'd term this particular time. I would be thrilled if I can make myself finish it today so I don't have to look at it come Tuesday . But I will try, really try, to get at least half of them done today.

Well, I got home safely!  Accidents on my route after I got home, though.

I've also gotten some bills paid on-line, shovelled the driveway, heated some frozen homemade soup for supper, unpacked and reloaded the dishwasher.

We're going to head back out in a little bit and shovel the driveway again, in hopes the snow is done and we can get going in the morning.  Hope my car starts!

I had to shift my day today, because I'm working until 5:00, with a dinner meeting right afterwards.

I still got up with my husband at 4:30 - because once I'm awake, I'm awake and there is no going back to sleep!

So I:  put away the dishes on the counter that I did Sunday, I unloaded the dishwasher that ran last night, did the hand dishes that had accumulated (again!  I swear the things multiply in my kitchen, all on their own), tidied the Tupperware cupboard, taking out all the containers I'll need for my cookies that I start baking on the weekend, tidied the house up a bit for the cleaner coming tomorrow - I don't clean but I do get stuff up off the floor and off surfaces as best I can so she can actually clean!

And I gave my husband a list of three things he needs to do tonight, too, in preparation for the cleaner tomorrow.

I'm hoping to get all my Christmas decorations up out of the crawl space tomorrow so we can get the tree up and the decorations out by the weekend - Sunday is the first Sunday in Advent so it's perfect timing.
