The chicken part...
« on: May 26, 2018, 12:37:53 pm »
This happened when my son was 7 years old. At this age children can change their food preferences like they change their socks, and when he saw the Thanksgiving turkey on the table being sliced and served he refused to eat it because he (suddenly, without warning!) hated turkey. I tried to reason with him, a tantrum was imminent, and I don't know what made me say this but I told him, "well, I'll just give you the chicken part of the turkey then!" And he ate happily what he believed was the chicken part that I served him from the turkey. Tantrum averted, all happy smiles!

How adorable!

We tell my 5 yr old DS, "Oh no!  You can't just leave those three pieces of broccoli on the plate.  They'll be so sad and lonely.  Poor little sad broccolis....""
Gets him every time! :)

At a party hosted by one of my grandmother's neighbors, I was told that a certain meat was chicken.

The next day, I was informed it was rabbit. Needless to say, I was not happy.

One of my relatives was told it was "chicken from duck".

Another boy was told it was "meat from a cow that lived 1000 years ago".

I have not eaten rabbit since then- accidentally or on purpose.
I have pet mice!

When my cousin was about 3 or 4, she walked in on her mom stuffing a turkey. She asked her mom "Why are you feeding the bird?'

My aunt told her 'Come help mom feed the bird, it's hungry.' She told the rest of us later 'I wasn't going to tell her where the stuffing was actually going. She wouldn't eat it if I did."
