Polite Paradise

This little monster showed up at my house Saturday morning and refuses to leave.  He's about 8 months old and not neutered.  When he arrived his collar was so tight I couldn't fit a finger even partway into it, and when I tried to take it off to loosen it up I discovered it had been taped shut.  I've got posts on all the lost and found boards in my area on Facebook and Craigslist and Nextdoor and no one seems to be looking for him.  I even drove around looking for signs or people out looking and nothing.  He's so sweet and friendly. My son is quickly becoming attached.  He keeps finding ways inside, but I have to keep kicking him out because I can't let him in until he's been seen by a vet and gotten shots because I have a 15 year old maine coon mix I don't want to get sick.  We've agreed if no one shows up by Wednesday we're taking him in for shots and neutering and he's coming in. 

Oh, so precious! And I am glad you got rid of his collar. Right? Taped shut is not good as that's potential danger; if there are former owners I wouldn't be returning him.

I predict Grumpy Old Man Cat will eventually notice that Rex looks up to him admiringly and he'll be won over. 

We found his former owners.  They had no intention of having him fixed or getting him his shots.  He's 5 months old, they decided he wasn't as cute, so they just let him out to roam.  They told us to keep him, they were going to move soon anyway and were just going to leave him.  (I hate people!)

So, anyway, he went to the vet and was tested for feline hiv and leukemia, both were negative so he got all his shots, got flea treatment and dewormed made himself at home on our couch and has been re-christened Rex (Kittysaurus Rex, thanks to my dino obsessed 9 year old).  He will be neutered next week.  My 15 year old grumpy old man cat is less than pleased, but he'll get over it.

That's how my ex and I ended up with cat #2.  My neighbor got a kitten then decided after a couple of hours that he didn't want her so he tossed her out.  We came home to find a terrified fluff ball on our doorstep.
